Attitude07 – Sweden’s largest survey that looked into students’ attitude towards business enterprise! The project was initiated, and is owned, by Drivhuset. The main financial backing was provided by Nutek.

The aim of the survey was to map students’ attitudes towards business enterprise. We wanted to make visible which student groups had business ideas and, for those that did, if they were interested in starting their own companies. At the same time, we also wanted to get a picture of whether students are of the opinion that universities/colleges of higher education encourage business enterprise, as well as suggestions for how students with ideas should be supported in academic environments!

 

-“ Many different working parties and seats of learning have long since been gauging the number of students who actively take part in courses and guidance meetings, as well as those who register their own companies. At the same time, big efforts are made to increase interest levels in running a business and business enterprise in the long term. However, the effects of these have not been measured. What do the majority of the students really think? Our ambition for Attitude07 is that it shall become a tool that can be used to find out the answers to this!” says project leader, Theres Sundberg.

Those academic institutions that participated will acquire a valuable tool. By analysing the results of the work carried out in this field, they will get a good indication of the current situation. Naturally, the results can be used as a compass to steer future resources in the right direction. The survey was carried out at 30 academic institutions via electronic questionnaires amongst 2000 randomly chosen students per institution. The survey began on April 2nd and ended on May 31st 2007. The survey was conducted together with the independent market research company, Mohlin Marknadsinformation AB.

All the information collected was compiled in a national report, as well as in specific reports for each individual participating academic institution. The reports, together with their contents, have now been distributed nationally and regionally to be used as development tools, and as a basis for discussion. You can access the reports HERE.

A model for Attitude07 was created already in 2003 and 2005. One academic institution took part in 2003, compared to nine in 2005. The survey has now grown immensely and our aim is that it will become a recurrent national survey carried out at regular intervals.
